While the Boston Red Sox were celebrating the 100th anniversary of Fenway Park, Jose Canseco was in attendance eager to see how the crowd would receive him. It was just earlier in the day that his ex-girlfriend Leila Shennib tweeted asking fans to help Canseco receive therapy in order to stop him from stalking her.

Shennib tweeted "Someone PLEASE get my ex @JoseCanseco therapy. He can't afford it and needs it! Maybe then he will stop stalking me...." to over 3,500 followers.

In a telephone interview with The Stirring Straw, she said that he tried reaching out to her today while he was at the Fenway Park festivities. One month after she broke up with him, a relationship that lasted almost four years, she says that his phone calls and text messages continue to flood phone.

"He has a lot of issues, because of whatever he's gone through in his life," Shennib said. "I feel like the only way he's going to fix himself is if he gets professional help."

Shennib clarified that her intentions when putting out that tweet were not mean and that she had compassion for him. She notes that his current situation with money may be a reason why he has not sought out help.

"(Canseco) says that he wants to get help. He just doesn't have the money for it," Shennib said. "Hopefully he can get some sort of job where he can afford it, get help, and then be a normal human being."

Today, Canseco inked a deal with the Worcester Tornadoes, an independent league baseball team with no ties to Major League Baseball. He had a brief stint in the Mexican League with the Quintana Roo Tigres, but was banned for his use of testosterone.

Canseco is no stranger to performance enhancing drugs as he released a book in 2005 chronicling his steroid use in the Major Leagues. 11 years removed from his last appearance at the MLB level with the Chicago White Sox in 2001, he is determined to show he can succeed as a clean player.

While at the Fenway Park celebration, he took the field flexing his right bicep and tweeted "Boston needs a dh I am ready, just need a tryout. Nobody loves playing the game more than I do."

Shennib stood by his side throughout their relationship. At this point, she's just hoping for the best in Canseco as he tries to get his life back together.
