Yankees Set to Announce Signing of Jose Mesa Jr.

The New York Yankees will officially announce their deal with Jose Mesa Jr. on Friday after a few weeks of negotiations. The draft pick let the news slip by responding to a follower's tweet shortly after first-rounder Ty Hensley signed. Mesa Jr. was selected in the 24th round of the 2012 MLB Draft out of Charles Flanagan High School in Florida. It appears that he will forego his commitment to pitch for Seminole Community College and start off in the Yankees' minor league system.

Mesa Jr. is the son of former Major Leaguer Jose Mesa and shows a lot of the same build and flair of his father on the mound. His fastball reaches 95 mph and he is currently working on perfecting two additional breaking pitches with his curveball and slider.

When we know more about the figures involved in the deal, we will pass along that news with you. Stay tuned.

He looks like some weird combination of Will Smith and Ivan Nova.

That's all the analysis I've got.
