Mark Teixeira did not participate in Team USA' exhibition game against the Chicago White Sox. Original reports said he suffered a strained forearm, but the Yankees announced it is a right wrist strain. X-Rays on his hand and wrist area came out negative, so the New York Yankees first baseman will leave the World Baseball Classic.
Although the injury was not considered serious, manager Joe Girardi has options to play Dan Johnson, Juan Rivera, or Kevin Youkilis if Teixeira would miss anything more than the seven to 10 estimated days.
The injury occurred while Teixeira was hitting in the batting cage prior to the game. He will see team doctors in New York on Wednesday.
